In October 2023, after a disagreement over one cartoon about the situation developing in Gaza, Steve Bell was "stood down" as a political cartoonist by the paper for which he had worked for the previous forty-two years. He was shocked but not entirely surprised that he had been expunged from the paper, as he had in fact somehow, unknowingly breached the Guardians "community standards". Apparently there were several previous offences to be taken into consideration. In essence he had been moderated out of the paper for which he had supplied cartoons, on a more or less daily basis, for a fifth of its 200-year existence. If you want to see the cartoon that caused all the trouble, see below at the top of the Leaders section. It was never actually published by the paper.
